The Provincial Executive Committees (PECs) of CONTRALESA serve as the highest decision-making bodies at the provincial level. They are instrumental in implementing national policies, coordinating provincial activities, and ensuring that the voices of traditional leaders are heard in provincial governance structures.

Structure and Composition

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Policy Implementation: Executing CONTRALESA's national policies and adapting them to provincial contexts.
  • Advocacy: Representing traditional leaders in provincial legislative processes and liaising with provincial governments.
  • Community Development: Initiating and supporting programs that promote socio-economic development in traditional communities.
  • Cultural Preservation: Safeguarding and promoting indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions.
  • Conflict Resolution: Addressing disputes within traditional communities and between traditional leaders.
