Empowering the Next Generation of Traditional Leadership

The CONTRALESA Youth Wing is the vibrant and dynamic arm of the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa, dedicated to nurturing and empowering young individuals within traditional communities. It serves as a platform for youth to actively participate in preserving cultural heritage, promoting socio-economic development, and ensuring the continuity of traditional leadership values in a modern South Africa.

Objectives

  • Leadership Development: Provide training and mentorship programs to equip youth with the skills necessary for effective leadership within traditional structures.

  • Cultural Preservation: Encourage active participation in cultural activities and the documentation of indigenous knowledge systems.

  • Community Engagement: Foster initiatives that address social issues such as education, health, and unemployment among the youth in traditional areas.

  • Advocacy: Represent the interests and concerns of young people in traditional communities at local, provincial, and national forums.

Structure and Membership

The Youth Wing operates across all nine provinces, with each province having its own executive committee to coordinate activities and programs. Membership is open to young individuals aged 14 to 35 who are committed to the values and objectives of CONTRALESA.
